DittoPro Hotend MK2 - Release Candidate 1
The DittoPro printer series printer is now 6 years old. While it fundamentally looks the same, we've been doing incremental improvements throughout it's life. Our plan is to keep doing just that. One of the goals we set out to do was to build a product that is timeless, and while we know that it is hard to do with hardware It's part of the guiding principles for our products.
One of the most important parts to a printer is its hotend design, our printers were designed for PLA. While we know there are all metal hotends out there ours was built for single purpose and to do it extremely well. We could also take what we learnt from the DittoPro-R hotend design and translate some of the design elements over to a MK2.
A few lessons from MK1
- The MK1 hotend had issues with regards to consistency on Hotend length. Thermal insulator design needed to change.
- Heat-sink doesn't need to be nearly as large as we thought.
- Constraint Nut design could be eliminated like the DittoPro-R hotend design.
- Ideally we should aim to have faster serviceability for the customer.
We wanted to share this design with everyone for anyone that wants to "Nerd" out with us on some design things. It's primarily still a DittoPro hotend with changes that allow for better length consistency.
