    This seems to work well.

    I would think that the rough textures on the bottom of the ring are from being set down in the lid of the mason jar. A way to alleviate that problem would be to "dip" the ring in the Methylene Chloride by hanging it from a wire. Then the wire is hung from a rack to dry the ring. Then the only part of the ring that is touched is the inside and only by a small diameter of wire.
